On Friday 26th April, we were wowed as we saw our Year 13 students from Wakefield Girls’ flourish into confident young adults at our annual Leavers’ Ball.
The Leavers’ Ball is truly a highlight of our school’s social calendar as students and staff unite at The Royal Armouries in Leeds to celebrate the brilliant young people our students have grown up to be during their years at Wakefield Girls’.
The event is a wonderful time for Wakefield Girls’ students to celebrate all that they have accomplished, alongside their peers at QEGS, many of whom they have studied alongside in co-educational A level classes for the past two years.
Highlights of the evening include the Sixth Form Dance, a long standing tradition in which the students open up the dance floor performing a well-rehearsed Waltz. To prepare for this event, the students started dance lessons straight after the Easter holidays, under the instruction of Mr Dean, QEGS Classics teacher, who is also a skilful ballroom dancer.
Additionally, there was the tradition of the highly entertaining ‘Awards Ceremony’ which recognises the comical and impressive qualities of both students and staff.
It was a wonderful evening to celebrate our Year 13 Leavers who will shortly be departing Wakefield Girls’ and embarking on their study leave for their A level examinations. Year 13, we wish you all the very best. You have been wonderful to teach.
