Dance Evening 2024!

16th April 2024

What an evening! Thank you to over 40 students from Years 3-13 who performed in our annual Dance Evening at the Elizabeth Theatre at QEGS. It was a wonderful opportunity to host family and friends of the Foundation and enjoy the vast talent we have in school.

The evening consisted of a range of dance styles and genres including contemporary, latin/salsa, Bollywood, acro and jazz, performed by individual students, duets, and of course, the winners from our House Dance competitions in the Junior Section.

We were extremely impressed by the wide variety of performances, especially because the majority of the performances were choreographed independently by the students themselves and practised at home during their free time. As a result, the student’s individuality, creativity and choreographic flair was able to shine through, with a wonderful array of different moves, tempos and levels on display.

During the first half of the evening, we had plenty of amazing solo and group performances from Olivia D, Azariah, Alex, Ellie, Gracie, Mila, Georgie, Lydia, Isla, Bella, Ophelia, Claudia, Sophie and Emi. We were particularly excited to watch our recently crowned Year 3 and Year 4 House Dance competition winners. Well done to Year 3 students Emily, Eva, Aizah, Edie and Sophie in Clayton House, who performed their line-dancing piece to ‘Achy Breaky Heart’ by Billy Ray Cyrus. Similarly, very well done to Ameera, Imogen, Avi, Jasmine, Fei Fei and Meera, our Year 4 winners in Mackie who delivered a brilliant cheerleading performance to ‘Mamma Mia’ by ABBA.

In the second half, we enjoyed solo and duet performances by Maddie, Daisy, Thevi, Rosa, Zara, Olivia, Imogen, Maddie, Claudia, Annabel, Poppy, Harriet, Lydia, Emi and Charlie. Our Year 5 House Dance competition winners, Ruby, Idun, Emie, Kabisha & Milly from Mackie took to the stage to perform a Bollywood dance to ‘Jai Ho!’ by AR Rahman and Pussycat Dolls. Finally, we had our Year 6 House Dance winners from Lee: Olivia, Evelyn, Nitya, Gracie & Laurie who performed an impressive lyrical routine to ‘Runaway’ by Aurora.

Many thanks to all our performers and staff  for their help with this production.
