FOSJH Soundbites Concert

11th March 2024

The afternoon of Friday 8th March marked our inaugural Soundbites Event, a joint venture between our Junior Music department and Junior PTA, FOSJH. St John’s Hall was filled with wonderful music from 4pm through to 5pm, thanks to our very own junior pupils.

Music is a big part of life here at Wakefield Girls’ and we support our students from a young age to develop their musical interests and passions. It was of no surprise that we had so many students sign up and we were treated to performances by over 30 young musicians, as well as a duet appearance from Mrs White and Mrs Browning!

A wide range of instruments, styles and standards were performed, showcasing pupils who have been learning for only a few weeks to pupils who are Grade 4 and above. It was wonderful to see the confidence with which they delivered their pieces.

The beautiful melodies were in tandem with the many and varied stalls that our PTA, FOSJH had set up: a tombola, guess the name of the toy (a fabulously enormous pig named Bongo – won by Isla), music themed pocket money merchandise, some delicious bakes and the opportunity to purchase some preloved school uniform.

The FOSJH trophy was awarded to Harriet and Olivia for their super duet performance showing great ensemble skills. The whole event was a wonderful start to the weekend, and we are greatly looking forward to our next Soundbites concert which will take place in the Summer Term.
