We are so excited for the return of the Great WGHS Bake Off 2024!
Our esteemed Bake Off judges were overwhelmed on Monday 4th March as they entered the judging room and saw the vast number of entries and the delicious aromas that emanated from our student’s baking creations. All students who entered the competition received a House point for participation.
This week they were judging our Signature Bakes round: our Key Stage 2 students were prompted to bake biscuits and cookies. Judged by the Director of the Junior Section Mr Rowley, Ms Donau-Green, Mrs Phillips, and Mrs Critch. Key Stage 3/4 were tasked with baking buns, muffins and traybakes; judged by Mr Webster, Mrs Manson, and Mr Tribe and our Heads of Houses.
Congratulations go to:
Key Stage 2:
1st Place – Luisa A-C – Scary Monster Biscuit – Clayton
Key Stage 3/4:
The leftover treats that weren’t tasted by judges were sold in two bake sales throughout the week, with funds going to Wakefield Hospice. It was a delicious opportunity for fellow students to try some of the sweet treats whilst also supporting a brilliant charitable cause.
On Monday 11th March, our Sixth Form students and staff competed against one another in a ‘Chocolate’ round!
Congratulations go to:
Key Stage 5/Staff:
The final Showstopper round will be hosted on Monday 18th March – we can’t wait to see what students create for the Illusion Cake brief!
