On Wednesday 21st February GCSE Music students had the exciting opportunity to visit Holmfirth High School to watch a dress rehearsal of Howard Ashman and Alan Menken’s ‘Little Shop of Horrors’.
This particular musical holds significant importance for our students as it is one of the set study works for their GCSE Music curriculum. The plot follows the misadventures of Seymour, a downtrodden flower shop assistant, who discovers a peculiar plant with a taste for human flesh. As Seymour’s fame and fortune rise, so too does the plant’s insatiable hunger, leading to a series of darkly comedic events.
Filled with incredible rock and roll music, this performance was a wonderful opportunity to put the music into context and for student’s to enhance their knowledge of the show, its musical nuances and thematic elements.
A big thank you to Holmfirth High School staff and students for their warm hospitality and for delivering a stellar performance.
