Year 4 India Workshop

31st January 2024

On Monday 29th January, Year 4 welcomed Mrs Vinta, mum of Year 4 student Meera into St. John’s Hall for a super Indian workshop to enrich their geography topic studying India.

The girls listened attentively to a presentation about all the different regions of India including the varied cultures, religions, traditions and climates; they were keen to ask lots of different questions to deepen their understanding. Year 4 then had the opportunity to learn and perform an Indian dance to traditional music, sample Indian food such as samosas and delicious sweets called ‘gulab jamun’, explore books and games typically found in India and try on traditional clothing. Students were particularly excited to look at a beautiful journal containing pressed flowers native to India, and to create their own Rangoli artwork and tealight holders.

This fantastic experience will help our students over the coming weeks as they compare and contrast the human and physical features of India with Malham and our local area. Thank you very much to Mrs Vinta and Meera for this informative and enjoyable workshop.
