On Thursday 11th January our Year 10 students arrived at Jubilee Hall to participate in a study-skills session hosted by Elevate Education. 

Elevate Education visits Wakefield Girls’ four times throughout the academic year, to run two study sessions with our students from Year 10 and Year 11 respectively. The aim of the sessions is to discover new and effective study methods and reflect upon which study techniques are best-suited to them, enabling them to get the most out of their lessons and the course material.

The techniques are research-based and evidence backed so both teachers and students can be confident that these methods will help them to revise successfully. Additionally students are provided with follow-up resources, to support them in implementing these techniques into their study practice year-round. This week’s session was named ‘Study Sensei’ and focused on the advantages of dynamic reading, specific ways of formatting notes, mind-mapping, and much more. 

We also offer parents and students a webinar service with Elevate which covers a variety of topics parents and students may find helpful to support academic excellence; these happen throughout the academic year and are publicised on our website and social media pages. Previous topics have included: ‘Managing Stress and Supporting Wellbeing’ and ‘How to Help and Keep Your Child Motivated’.
