Politics Trip to London

6th December 2023

It was an early start for our A-Level Politics students on Monday 4th December, as they travelled down to London to attend the ‘A-Level Politics Student Conference 2023’.

This exciting annual event brings influential and impressive politicians from across the political spectrum to a beautiful and grand space – to debate and discuss all things politics and current affairs, with challenging questions posed from students from across the country.

Held at Methodist Central Hall, Westminster – this year’s conference brought together the Rt. Hon Sajid Javid, Jeremy Corbyn MP, Sir Jacob Rees-Mogg MP, Sir Ed Davey MP, David Davis MP, Jess Phillips MP, and more – for what was undoubtedly a lively and interesting day of political debate.

The trip enables students to listen and learn about a multitude of political ideologies, hearing some of Britain’s finest orators speak about their beliefs and justify their political positions in depth, giving context and real-world examples. Topics discussed throughout the course of the day were thought provoking and I’m sure will be debated voraciously in future lessons – something we encourage, as it deepens our student’s theoretical understanding and develops their oratory and debating skills.
