On Sunday 19th November, four of our riders in the Wakefield Girls’ Equestrian team headed to Epworth to compete in the NSEA (National Schools Equestrian Association) competition.
Here is a report written by Year 12 student Tilly, our Equestrian Team Captain:
On Sunday 19th November, we travelled to Epworth Equestrian Centre in North Licolnshire for the Eventer’s challenge.
We started off with Year 10 student Florence and her pony Ted in the 80cm class, who had a fantastic round, only somewhat spoiled with two late stops. Isobel, in Year 12 and her horse Mia then followed them into the ring, having a clear jumping round but incurring time penalties for going too fast. We then moved onto the 90cm class, and Year 12 student Tilly and her horse Manny had a disappointing round with two spooky stops, as well as a few extra rearing moves. Jessica in Year 11 and her horse Lincoln then left the team on an amazing high, jumping two clears in both the 90cm and 100cm classes to take home the win in both. This means that Jessica has qualified for the Championships at Hickstead in May 2024!
