Junior’s Sport Season Begins

5th October 2023

Our Junior student’s sports season is off to a fine start. On Friday 29th September we had our first hockey fixture of the season for our U10 and U11 team versus Hill House School, Doncaster. The matches were closely contested matches with narrow losses. Congratulations to our Players of the Match – Daisy, Gracie, Priyah and Libby.

Next up, on Wednesday 4th October our U11 team was excited to play in the IAPS (Independent Association of Prep Schools) tournament at Loughborough Grammar School. Our squad departed very early from Wakefield Girls’ to compete, with nerves and excitement in abundance. After a shaky start they started to play some good linking hockey which resulted in a 1-0 win Vs Solihull Prep School with a smashing goal from Rosa.

This placed them third in the pool and they then played Laxton Primary School in the Quarter final. We had possession for most of the game with lots of scoring opportunities but just couldn’t convert the pressure into a goal. Even in the 5 minutes of extra golden goal play.  This resulted in a barrage of flicks where unfortunately we failed to score.

It was a great day of hockey where the performance improved match after match.  Congratulations to the players of the tournament, Zara and Maddie! We can’t wait to see this team develop throughout the season.
