Year 5 Forest School

28th September 2023

On Thursday 28th September, our Year 5 students enjoyed a visit to our Forest School.

This year our Outdoor Education programme features outdoor survival skills including map reading and tracking to fire building and wilderness survival. All eight of our Junior classes, from Year 3 to Year 6, will take part in various activities over the year.

To begin, students will learn the basics of orienteering within the school grounds and then progress out into the local area to stretch and challenge the girls in a new and possibly unknown environment. Areas such as Nostell Priory and Newmillerdam are on the list of scenic woodlands to explore and utilise their newfound orienteering skills.

We are passionate about the benefits of our Outdoor Education programme for our students which helps to embed the High Performance Learning (HPL) values taught here at Wakefield Girls’, such as resilience, collaboration and risk-taking.
