Top 5 Schools Mark for Maths Homework

19th January 2023
This year, Year 7 students have been completing maths homework as part of a pilot of Sparx Maths. We are thrilled that their hard work and engagement with this pilot have resulted in Wakefield Girls High School being awarded a Sparx Super Star Award for being one of the 5 highest achieving schools in the country for homework completion. Fantastic work Year 7!
Sparx Maths creates tailored practice homework for each student linked to the work they have been doing with their maths teachers in class.  The practice is both challenging (to ensure students need to think) and achievable (so that students can be successful). Their homework also features spaced repetition and interleaving to support a change in students’ long term memories.
We are delighted with the success of the first term of the pilot, feedback from students, parents and teachers has been excellent. Because of this we have extended the pilot to Year 8 students this term and look forward to seeing how they can use Sparx to further develop the skills they are learning in class.
