Founders’ Day 2022

20th September 2022

It was wonderful to gather together at Wakefield Cathedral for Founders’ Day on Friday 16 September.  Wakefield Girls’ has a strong sense of community and collective endeavour. Founders’ Day is our annual tradition, where we thank our Creator for the foundation of this school in 1878.  We remember with gratitude all those who have enriched the life of the school and we reflect on our heritage and values.

Students were greeted with addresses by Canon, Dr Jayson Rhodes, Head, Ms Boyes, Head Girl, Hooriya, Deputy Head Girl, Charlotte and alumna and Oxford University undergraduate, Sarah Shah.

This year, our service included reflections to the Queen and, at the end of the service, we welcomed the new King by singing the new National Anthem.

The proceeds from a collection at the end of Founders’ Day will be donated to Forget Me Not Children’s Hospice and Wakefield Cathedral.
