The Physical Education curriculum in the Junior School provides a broad, balanced, relevant and varied programme of timetabled and extra-curricular activities.
Girls have the opportunity to participate and excel in many sports, with Hockey, Netball, Soccer, Fencing, Swimming, Martial Arts and Cricket available.
Pupils in Reception to Year 2 enjoy timetabled PE three times a week, using both indoor and outdoor areas.
From Reception upwards the girls are taught a variety of different sports, in turn nurturing a love of sport and encouraging active healthy lifestyles. For these younger girls, sport is about developing whole body management and enabling them to feel happy, secure and confident in their own space and the environment around them. Girls benefit from using a multi-purpose sports area as well as an indoor sports hall, sports pavilion, all weather AstroTurf and athletics track.
In Years 5 and 6, girls are taught and coached by sport specialists as well as Junior and Senior School specialist PE staff.
It is hoped to achieve a balance between the aesthetic and the practical; namely individual, partner and teamwork, to give each girl a sound and broad base from which to achieve success and fulfilment in sports and leisure activities through life. Girls enjoy gym, apparatus exploration, ball and racket skills and athletics.
We are proud of our girls' many sports achievements, both individually and as a team, reaching national levels in competitions each year.
“The broad and varied PE curriculum nurtures a love of sport and promotes active, healthy lifestyles.”
