The Friends of Wakefield Grammar School Foundation

The Friends of WGSF provide a means of contact for parents whose children have left The Foundation.

Our social events during the year help maintain friendships made through WGSF, as well as supporting the school and the Parents’ Association in fundraising initiatives. The Friends of WGSF was formed in the 1980s, to enable parents of boys who are no longer here to maintain links with QEGS and WGHS.

One of our past events was a Sunday Lunch with our guest speaker Rose George, an Old Girl of WGHS, who gave us an insight to her life as a journalist travelling all over the world.

We have also, during the past year, held an Antiques Roadshow type event which proved very popular.

All funds raised at these events are used to purchase items or fund projects for the benefit of boys in both the Junior and Senior Schools following a request from the Heads. Our last donations purchased 2 rowing machines for the school gymnasium.

There are currently around 190 members, and we warmly welcome any new members, either parents of children who have left the school, current parents or anyone who has ties with the school. Please contact our chair to find out more. We look forward to meeting you.

The Friends Wakefield Grammar School Foundation have launched a Facebook page so it is now easier to stay in contact, obtain information or view pictures of events that have run. Visit our page.
