The Friends of Wakefield Grammar School Foundation

The Friends of WGSF provide a means of contact for parents whose children have left The Foundation.

Our social events during the year help maintain friendships made through WGSF, as well as supporting the school and the Parents’ Association in fundraising initiatives. The Friends of WGSF enable parents and/or grandparents of students who no longer attend the Foundation schools to maintain links with QEGS AND WGHS.

We usually organise four social events each year including a meal/drinks. This year our events have included a talk about a gold winning display at the Chelsea Flower Show and reminiscences by past headmaster Mr Robert Mardling, of the Queen’s visit to QEGS in 1992.  Any profits made are accumulated to pay for projects identified by the school heads. In 2017, we funded the purchase of furniture for the office of the new WGHS pupil Counsellor and we have purchased new chairs for the Spilsbury Room at QEGS.

There are currently around 190 members, and we warmly welcome any new members, either parents of children who have left the school, current parents or anyone who has ties with the Foundation schools. Please contact our chair to find out more. We look forward to meeting you.

The Friends Wakefield Grammar School Foundation have launched a Facebook page so it is now easier to stay in contact, obtain information or view pictures of events that have run.
