Steeped in over 429 years of history yet recognised as a school at the forefront of educational thinking, we’re continually refreshing and growing our facilities and resources, to enable students to excel in every area of academic and sporting achievement.
Over the years, our secure school campus has grown organically with an eclectic mix of historic buildings, purpose-built facilities and green open space, to create the welcoming community you see today.
A liberating sense of adventure and creative invention prevails in every area of our school. Behind the doors of our ornate 1910 building, you’ll see a flurry of academic activity as agile minds bursting with inquisitive energy apply their newly acquired knowledge to practical tasks and innovative challenges. While elsewhere, every day is an adventure, whether it’s dipping into our recently renovated swimming pool or learning a spot of bush craft in our very own Forest School.

Our creative minds are free to express themselves in inspiring art studio spaces or play, compose or collaborate in our recording studio, music rooms and classrooms.
in our dedicated Science block, budding scientists can enjoy out of this world learning experiences in several state-of-the-art labs. While promising sports stars have access to an indoor gym, fitness suite, sports pavilion and sports fields (home of the mighty ‘Black and Golds’), together with the Astroturf pitches and athletics track we share with our sister school, Wakefield Girls’.
As students move to the top of school, our purpose-built Sixth Form Centre, complete with a large common room, dedicated study space and café, gives them the space and freedom to socialise and pursue independent learning.
