Maintaining good mental health and wellbeing through positive relationships is an intrinsic part of QEGS’ ethos. What matters to us that above all, is that a boy’s time at QEGS should be as enjoyable as possible. We pride ourselves on having a kind and inclusive community where students feel fully supported to progress both academically and socially. We want every student to feel happy, relaxed, confident, and valued in an environment that enables them to truly be themselves.
Our awareness of the positive role wellbeing can play means that we support students not just when they’re settling in, but throughout their school lives. In addition to our in-school counsellor and matron, boys have the opportunity to train in roles of peer support, helping new students with anything from settling in, to homework and friendship advice.
Our wellbeing initiatives include a weekly enrichment afternoon as well as a dedicated wellbeing day complete with lessons, online resources and mindfulness practices for boys to enjoy. Each half term, we also host a Feel Good Friday for Juniors and a Free Your Mind Friday event for Seniors, enabling students and staff to fully relax and unwind, with a whole day dedicated to mindfulness and the personal pursuits of happiness.
We create a secure environment where students gain a true sense of their own worth and feel a real sense of belonging, fostered through small personal tutorials, affiliation to a house, twice weekly assemblies and dependable peer and staff support.
