The Sixth Form at QEGS
Our Sixth Form experience provides students with personalised care and attention – helping boys to manage their studies, make informed choices, and ensure these two crucial years are happy and enjoyable. The 26 subjects on offer create both breadth and flexibility for students, with some subjects taught jointly with Wakefield Girls’ High School. Students usually study three A levels, in a relaxed classroom environment facilitated by the small class sizes (typically 8—12), led by staff who are experts in their field.

Academic Excellence
In 2021, 76% of our A Level grades were in the top grade brackets with the great majority of Year 13 Leavers obtaining a place at their first choice university.
Individual Guidance and Support
Students receive close pastoral and careers support with daily, individual tutorial time. The excellent staff–student relationship is elevated to a more mature level; it becomes a partnership, equipping students to achieve academic and personal goals. Broad Sense of Community
The Sixth Form at QEGS is full of opportunities, offering an environment where individuals can aspire to success in a variety of different areas, whether that
is academic or extra-curricular. Underpinning these opportunities is a strong sense of community where boys establish life-long interests and friendships.
QED
The ‘Sixth Form Approved Alternative Activity’ gives students the chance to create their own bespoke QED (QEGS Enrichment and Development) to develop their skills and experience i.e. voluntary work, or relevant work experience. Sixth Formers can also get involved in running QED activities, allowing them to share their knowledge and expertise, whilst honing their leadership skills.
Expanding Horizons
Students are encouraged to explore the multitude of possibilities open to them.
Participation in the myriad trips, sports tours and expeditions takes students to different points of the globe, broadening outlooks, developing capabilities and offering experiences of a lifetime.
Universities and Careers Advice
Academic staff work very closely with students to help them discover the right path for their career journey. Expert 1:1 help is provided through the careers process and to support extensive links to universities, apprenticeship providers, programmes of careers talks and Enrichment Lectures.
The Next Step of the Journey
In 2021, students gained places at many of the country’s leading universities, on a diverse range of degree courses including Architecture, Pharmacy, Physics, Mathematics, Economics, Actuarial Science, Law, Geography, Computer Science, Engineering and Medicine.
Students also gained sought-after places on prestigious Degree Apprenticeships in the Financial Sector.
Old Savilians' Club
Friendships developed during school days at QEGS continue into later life. The Old Savilians’ Club receives tremendous support from all ages, through a calendar of social and sporting events, continuing to promote fellowship amongst Old Savilians.
The strong network of Old Savilians provides many opportunities for work experience, with Old Savilians often returning to school to share their experiences and careers advice with students.
