Into the Wild: Our Year 6 Explorers Tackle the Bushcraft Residential

4th June 2026

Just before the half-term break, our Year 6 pupils traded the classroom for the wilderness, embarking on an unforgettable adventure on their Bushcraft Residential. The trip was a resounding success, with pupils completely immersing themselves in the rugged charm of outdoor life and embracing every challenge with fantastic enthusiasm.

The residential offered a packed itinerary of hands-on survival skills and experience living in the great outdoors. Throughout the three days pupils mastered axe-throwing and archery, worked together to construct sturdy woodland shelters, and learned the vital art of building the perfect campfire from scratch. Every pupil gave 100% to each task, showing an admirable willingness to step outside their comfort zones and continue to learn outside the classroom.

Beyond the sheer excitement of the activities, the trip served as a powerful opportunity for personal growth. Living and working together in the outdoors allowed the year group to forge deeper bonds, honing their teamwork and resilience as they problem-solved in their teams.

We are incredibly proud of the adventurous spirit and exemplary behaviour our Year 6s displayed throughout the three day residential. They return to school not only with a host of new outdoor skills but with wonderful, lifelong memories of their time together on this residential.
