There was excitement at the station (well, the Pre-Prep Hall!) this week as our Year 2 pupils were treated to a surprise performance of The Railway Children. As part of their recent curriculum, the children were transported back in time without even leaving the school gates.

It was a truly immersive experience, with our pupils interacting with the cast and seeing the magic of live theatre up close. The performance linked perfectly with the themes of our recent WoW Week, bringing history and storytelling to life in a way that was ‘practically perfect’.

The performance of  The Railway Children was brilliantly adapted for the younger age group, it is a classic tale that follows three siblings, Roberta, Peter, and Phyllis, whose comfortable lives in London are upended when their father is falsely accused of spying and taken away. Their subsequent move to a cottage near a Yorkshire railway line leads to a journey of resilience, discovery, and community.

It was a wonderful afternoon and a fantastic way to bring the curriculum to life while keeping our pupils thoroughly engaged!
