A ‘Quacking’ Start to the Term: Ducklings arrive in FS1

27th February 2026

There has been a palpable sense of wonder in our FS1 classroom this week as we welcomed some very special, feathered guests!

The journey began with a great deal of mystery. Before the big arrival, our pupils spent time observing the eggs and using their imaginations to guess what might be inside. The theories were wonderfully creative, ranging from dinosaurs and snakes to lizards, chicks, and even a lion! 🦁🐍

Once the ducklings finally made their appearance, the real learning began. Our youngest pupils have fully embraced their roles as caretakers, learning exactly how to look after the ducklings to keep them safe and happy. This hands-on experience has sparked fantastic discussions about the lifecycle of a duck, from the initial nesting stage to those first fluffy steps.

The classroom is now buzzing with the next important task: the naming ceremony! Our pupils are busy brainstorming and suggesting names for their new friends, with some very charming and humorous ideas already being shared.

It has been a truly magical week of discovery, smiles, and, most importantly, lots of quacking! 🦆💛
