This week as our children participated in the annual House Captain elections. This cherished tradition is a cornerstone of our school life, creating vital links that extend all the way to WGHS and QEGS. From the moment a child joins us, they are assigned to a House, forging lifelong bonds and a shared sense of belonging. These Houses are unique communities, giving our children the fantastic chance to make friends across different year groups, up to age seven, which is instrumental in building those crucial communication skills.
The elected House Captains take on a key responsibility: leading their House in various activities and ensuring spirits remain high. This role is a powerful way for them to develop their leadership skills and confidence. We ensure that every House member has every opportunity to step up, contribute, and drive positive change throughout our school.
This week marked the moment of truth for our Year 2 candidates. They stood before their House team members and delivered compelling speeches, outlining exactly why they would be the best choice and how they plan to support every single pupil in their House. This experience is invaluable; it actively builds their leadership capabilities while complementing the many other chances our children get to take on responsibility and hone their essential interpersonal skills.
