This afternoon, our youngest learners in FS2 had a fascinating visit from Renewi Recycling. Inspired by the book they are currently reading called, Superworm. The children were thrilled to see and even handle real worms! They discovered what these wriggly creatures eat and how they help our soil. A highlight for many was learning that worms surprisingly have five hearts, located in their saddle which is in the middle of their bodies.
The learning didn’t stop there. The FS2 classes also got busy creating their own wormeries using recycled materials like milk bottles, soil, sand, and paper. This hands-on activity helped them understand the importance of recycling and taking care of our planet. It was a truly engaging and educational afternoon for our young environmentalists.
