World Book Day was a resounding success, filled with creativity and a celebration of reading. This year’s theme, “Dress as a Verb,” sparked a fantastic array of costumes, ranging from inspiring professions like police officers, doctors, and scientists to adventurous explorers and even royalty.
Dressing up for World Book Day offers children a unique opportunity to connect with beloved fictional characters and envision their future aspirations. Mrs. Gill was delighted by the students’ imaginative costumes and really proud of the significant effort put into each outfit. The teachers also joined in, adding to the fun filled atmosphere.
At Wakefield Grammar Pre-Preparatory School, we believe fostering a love for reading from an early age cultivates curiosity and strengthens imagination, nurturing lifelong learners. The day was packed with engaging activities, including a captivating morning assembly led by the incredible Oliver Meech, who ignited the magic of reading and entertained all the pupils.
To promote reading confidence across the Foundation, junior students had the opportunity to bring stories to life for the pre-prep children. Their engaging reading was a huge hit with the younger audience. We extend a special thank you to our returning alumni, who also dressed up and shared their favorite stories, generously giving their time to inspire our children.
A huge well done to all our children for their amazing costumes and for making World Book Day 2025 such a memorable occasion. We eagerly anticipate the creative costumes you will bring to next year’s World Book Day!
