Children in FS1 had a fantastic time this week when the Yorkshire Owl Experience flew in for a special visit! Steve from Yorkshire Owl Experience spent time teaching our youngest learners all about owls, focusing on the many different types found both in the UK and around the world. He shared fascinating details about their habitats, their diet, and whether they are active during the day or are strictly nocturnal.
The children loved seeing the various species up close, one small owl kept them entertained when it kept hopping of its perch and wandering around! Some of the owls were very small and others were much larger. They were introduced to a wonderful array of owls, including a Barn Owl, a Little Owl, a Long-eared Owl, a Great Horned Owl, and a Western Screech Owl. Best of all, every child had the amazing opportunity to gently stroke an owl, and two brave children even volunteered to hold the birds and take them around to their friends. This was a wonderful, hands-on way for our youngest children to engage in learning about different animals and truly understand their importance in our ecosystem.
