At Wakefield Grammar Pre-Prep we passionately believe in the power of outdoor learning to bring subjects to life, and our Forest School is where the magic happens! Today, our Year 1 children had an absolutely amazing time immersing themselves in nature and extending their classroom learning beyond four walls.
Their adventure began with quiet observation, allowing them to truly connect with the environment as they noted the seasonal changes happening all around them. Then, they put their maths skills to the test through engaging positional work and by exploring degrees of turn in a hands-on, natural setting.
The creativity didn’t stop there! Afterwards, inspired by their surroundings, Year 1 students meticulously drew a beautiful tulip tree flower. They then transformed their 2D drawings into fantastic 3D versions by skillfully wrapping colourful yarn around sticks.
This was a brilliant example of how our children thrive with fantastic creativity and outdoor learning. Well done, Year 1 – we’re so proud of your discoveries!
