Last Friday, Year 8 students from both QEGS and WGHS collaborated for the latest installment of the LEAP enterprise project. The day was centred around the aviation industry, with students tasked by British Airways to develop a comprehensive proposal for a ‘Future Airline.’
The challenge required more than just creative design; students were pushed to consider the rigorous commercial realities of the industry. Working in joint teams, they had to identify specific target demographics, assess commercial viability, and construct a robust marketing strategy to differentiate their brand in a competitive global market.
The day culminated in a series of pitches, where students presented their concepts to a panel. The level of professional polish was impressive, with winning teams selected for their ability to balance innovative ideas with sound business logic. The event underscored the importance of the LEAP program in developing the “soft skills” – teamwork, public speaking, and strategic thinking – that are essential beyond the classroom.
