The QEGS Junior Inter-House Music Competition made a spectacular return this week, showcasing a brilliant display of talent across two distinct competitions. Pupils from Years 3 to 6 took to the stage to perform in front of their peers, Mr Renshaw, and Special Guest Judge, Mrs Williams, delivering a morning of high-quality performances.
The competition was split by age group to allow for a diverse range of instrumental and vocal categories:
Under 9s Category Winners:
Piano – Ayaan A
Voice – Rex W
Wind (Joint) – Jack J and Alex S
Drums – Jude R
Strings – Edward P
Under 11s Category Winners:
Piano (Joint) – Vishvan S and Evan Z
Voice – Lewis L
Brass and Woodwind – Lewis L
Strings – Oliver C
Percussion – Abel J
Following the individual category winners, the adjudicators faced the difficult task of selecting the Young Musician of the Year (YMOTY) for each age group, awarded for the most outstanding performance overall. We are delighted to announce:
U9 Young Musician of the Year: Rex W
U11 Young Musician of the Year: Oliver C
The competition culminated in a dramatic finale regarding the overall inter-house trophy. Initially, it appeared Freeston House had secured victory. However, in a tense turn of events, an eagle-eyed member of the crowd noticed a missing entry for the Year 11 Voice category. This last-minute addition earned Bentley House an extra five points, resulting in a tied Inter-House Music Competition between Freeston and Bentley!
A massive well done to all performers for their hard work, dedication, and for bringing such vibrant musical energy to the school.
