Scotland Music Tour 2024

6th September 2024

On Monday 1st July, 44 musicians from Wakefield Girls’ High School and QEGS embarked upon an exciting journey up north to Scotland – where they toured across the country, performing at local musical hotspots. During the trip students visited and performed at Dumfries House in East Ayrshire, Robert Burns Museum, Cumnock Town Hall, Ayr Baptist Church and Culzean Castle. Students stayed in Manoukian Outdoor Residential Centre, with activities on site including archery, assault course, indoor climbing, geocaching, a zip wire, plus many more.

During the trip we enjoyed a folk workshop with Alistair McCulloch’s folk band and strings. Additionally, students enjoyed a visit to Cottage in Alloway, swimming at Cumnock open air pool, a group quiz, visited the beach in Ayr, and a spirited game of rounders… All of this was complemented with the experience of discovering a new country, having fun outdoors and breathing in fresh country air!

This trip was a brilliant opportunity for our students to have quality rehearsal time in a relaxed setting, working as a team to develop their musical skills, bond as musicians and perform to a wider audience in a variety of venues.
