Things to do at Open Doors

Speak to pupils

Who better to tell you all about school life than our pupils ? Chat to your tour guide and pupils throughout school to hear about their experience and find out what helped them decide Wakefield Grammar Pre-Preparatory School was the perfect school for them.

Check out our school & meet our staff

Take a tour around our school and see if you can picture your child here as a pupil.  Current pupils and staff will be on hand to answer any questions you may have about your possible move to Wakefield Grammar Pre-Prep.  You’ll be able to talk with all of our teachers who will be running activities for your child to join in with as you wish. Soak up our art displays and be sure to take a break and sample some of our delicious and nutritious catering.

We were delighted to be shortlisted by Muddy Stilettos last year as a school for best experiential learning, and this year we have been awarded Bronze Standard Carnegie Award for our Outstanding Mental Health and Wellbeing Provision.

Learn how we support our pupils

We value smiles as much as success and have fantastic support in place for pupils.  This includes wellbeing, philosophical thinking and our innovative Zones of Regulation practice. You can speak directly to our Senior Leadership Team who are responsible for pastoral care and discuss the provisions we have in place to care for and nurture our pupils.

Discover our extra-curricular activities

The extra-curricular activities and clubs we offer will no doubt have a big impact on your child’s experience, learning and development.  With over 20 clubs and activities,  there is so much to be involved in and so many new friends to be made.  There will be sports sessions happening throughout the morning for your child to get involved with if they would like,  whilst you ask our fantastic team what is on offer and take home a copy of our ‘Extras’  to help your child decide which they’d like to do.

Learn about our Pathways To Success Programme

At the heart of everything we do is happily empower and support all of our pupils as they grow.  We believe there is no substitute for readily available opportunities to lead and our Little Leaders programme offers just that for children in all year groups.

Discover more about our Pathways To Success on your visit.

Find out about our House experience

At Wakefield Grammar Pre-Preparatory School, all pupils belong to a House.  We think this helps everyone to quickly belong, explore and reach their full potential.   New pupils are welcomed as a member of a House and enjoy many socials, adventures and friendly competitions with others in their House ‘family’.  Life here and being part of a House is one side of the pupil experience here and goes hand in hand with academic and extra-curricular life.

Take part in activities throughout school

There will be fun activities for little ones at our Open Doors – both inside and out !
