GCSE Results 2025

21st August 2025

Pupils, parents, and staff at Queen Elizabeth Grammar School, ranked among the North’s top 10 independent schools, are celebrating another year of exceptional GCSE results. This year, 50% of all grades were awarded at levels 9 to 7 (the equivalent of A*/A), reflecting both the ambition and determination of our pupils and the outstanding teaching and support they receive.

The school takes immense pride in the achievements of all its Year 11 pupils, many of whom have delivered remarkable individual performances. Notable highlights include Daniel, Kaleb, Aston, Theo and Sam, who each achieved eight or more grades at 9–8 (formerly A*), while 16 boys achieved straight 9–7 grades. In addition, 30 pupils were awarded at least one of the top grade 9s. Importantly, across the full range of ability at QEGS, pupils achieved results that were better than their benchmark expectations.

Head Dr Brookes commented:

“I am incredibly proud of our Year 11 pupils for their remarkable accomplishments during their time at QEGS. They have made invaluable contributions to school life – both academically and across a diverse range of co-curricular activities – and they are growing into excellent young men.”

He continued:

“They have been admirably supported by our wonderful staff – their inspirational teaching and expert pastoral care have been instrumental in our pupils’ success. Pupils and teachers alike deserve hearty congratulations for their hard work and dedication.”
