QEGS celebrates outstanding GCSE results

QEGS is celebrating another year of outstanding GCSE success, with over 70% of results being the top 9-7 grades. These results, achieved after a rigorous process of evidence-based teacher assessment prior to exam board approval, are well deserved and provide a strong foundation for future study.

There were a number of stand out performances, with the following boys achieving at least 9 grade 9s: Luke Ducker, Charlie Fisher, Jihan Ha, Saifullah Khalid, Jvan Lin, Rohan Mathew, Ben Rose, William Sharp, Connor Singleton and Akshayan Sundaram.

Indeed, 44 of our wonderful boys got at least one of those coveted Grade 9s.

In our first year of offering the HPQ qualification, we had 100% success at A and A* with the following boys achieving the A*: Luke Ducker, Max Gallagher, Jihan Ha, Saifullah Khalid, Jvan Lin, Ben Rose and Connor Singleton. Off-timetable subjects were again very successful, with Sam Gossage gaining a 9 in Ancient Greek and Photography being 100% 9-7 with James Smith being awarded a 9. Well done to all these boys.

Richard Brookes, Head, commented:

“I would like to congratulate all the boys on their achievements, and all the parents who have supported them so much over the last two years. Talking to boys and parents when they collected their results, a consistent theme was how difficult these last two years of study had been, with its combination of in-person and online learning. It has been so heartening to see the boys, and their teachers, rise to the challenge. I am looking forward to seeing the boys return to the Sixth Form in September when we hope and expect that they will be able to participate in all the sporting, musical, dramatic, artistic and outdoor education opportunities that have been so limited during the pandemic.”
