Year 9 Sporting Stars

28th April 2025

It has been a hugely successful couple of weeks for a number of our talented Year 9 pupils, with achievements across a wide range of sports demonstrating both their dedication and versatility.

Over the Easter break, Jake continued his outstanding run of form in Karate, claiming gold medals in the U14 Individual Kata at both the English Karate Championships and the British Four Nations Karate Championship — a phenomenal double achievement!

Meanwhile, Hector brought home a bronze medal as he represented Yorkshire in the Double Scull at the Junior Inter-Regional Regatta on Saturday, showing great determination and composure on the water.

Both Jake and Hector — along with Henry, who we celebrated last week — are part of 9MJE, a form that is certainly flying the sporting flag high for Year 9!

Adding to the celebrations, a number of our U14 Rugby squad were in action for Sandal RUFC, helping their team lift the Yorkshire Cup after a hard-fought victory against Otley. To round off an incredible few days, the Year 9 Cricket team secured a fantastic win against Pocklington.

These successes highlight the well-rounded nature of our pupils, who continue to shine both on the field and in the classroom. We are incredibly proud of their achievements — well done to all involved!
