This week, QEGS proudly hosted two exciting Rugby 10s tournaments, with both competitions showcasing brilliant effort, teamwork, and sportsmanship from all participating teams.
The action kicked off on Monday with the U14s tournament, where our QEGS side put in a series of outstanding performances to claim victory on points difference. They started strongly, securing impressive wins against Durham and Mount St Mary’s in the group stage, which placed them in the top group for the afternoon alongside King’s Pontefract and RGS Newcastle.
A hard-fought victory over King’s Pontefract set up a decisive final match against RGS Newcastle, where the team narrowly lost in a closely contested battle. However, thanks to other results working in their favour, QEGS were crowned tournament champions on points difference—a fantastic achievement! Well done, lads!
On Wednesday, it was the turn of our U16s to take to the field. A slow start against eventual winners Dame Allan’s meant they had an uphill battle early on, but the team quickly found their rhythm and delivered some fantastic rugby throughout the day. Their resilience and improvement as the tournament progressed were evident, and they can take great pride in their performances.
We would like to extend our thanks to all the teams who travelled to take part—we hope you enjoyed the occasion as much as we did! We now look forward to hosting our U18 tournament next and are excited for another great display of rugby.
Photos from both tournaments can be found here—the U16 images will be added soon but can be accessed via the same link.
Well done to all involved, and we can’t wait for more rugby action to come!
