While we subscribe to the view that academic achievement is only one aspect of life at QEGS, we are incredibly proud of our students and the way their results consistently compete with the very best in Yorkshire.
This year, we were delighted to announce another strong set of A Level results with a majority of boys taking on a diverse range of exciting university courses and apprenticeships at top institutions around the country.
The impressive results were a fitting culmination to the 2024 leavers’ time at QEGS.
Head Boy Will will be going to Liverpool to study Medicine, having attained A* in Chemistry and A grades in Maths and Biology.
Deputy Head Boy and National Essay Competition winner Arthur will be going to Girton College, Cambridge University to study History having attained A*AAA in Geography, History, Politics and EPQ.
“Pleased the wait is over!” James will be going to study History at Peterhouse College, Cambridge University having attained 3 A* grades in Economics, History and Maths, complemented by an A grade in his EPQ.
Congratulations to Janik, who will be studying English & German at Hertford College, University of Oxford having achieved 2 A* and 2 A grades, with an A* in EPQ.
Deputy Head Boy Tim also heads to Imperial College to study Design Engineering, taking with him 3 A*s in Design Technology, Maths and Physics along with an A* in his EPQ for which he was awarded full marks. Tim also found the time to gain an A in AS Further Maths – the highest grade possible.
Following in the footsteps of his hero Brian Cox, Max will be studying Physics at Manchester – he is justifiably proud of his 2 A* grades and 2 A grades in Physics, Maths, Further Maths and French.
Architecture is growing in popularity amongst our students and this year, Roman leaves us to take up his place to study in Manchester following top grades in Design Technology and his EPQ on the filming techniques used in the Star Wars franchise. He was also awarded grade As in Maths and Physics.
Sri achieved A* in Maths (and in his EPQ) and As in Further Maths, Economics and Physics and will be taking up a place at Nottingham to study Economics.
Ollie achieved AAB in Economics, Psychology and English Literature and will be reading Business Management at Liverpool University.
Rahul will be taking up a place at Leeds University Medical School, having secured A*s in Biology and in his EPQ and grade As in Chemistry and Maths.
Overall, 38% of boys achieved the top A* and A grades. The vast majority of boys will go on to study at their first-choice university, attaining places on the most prestigious courses, including Medicine, Law, Veterinary Medicine, Dentistry, Architecture, English Literature, Mathematics, Journalism, Geography, Engineering, History, Modern Languages, Economics, Physics, Rural Enterprise & Land Management, and Business Management. We also have boys beginning apprenticeships in the Financial, Retail and Engineering sectors, following rigorous and highly competitive selection processes.
