Year 5 QEGlet raises cash for charity

16th September 2021

Over the summer, Rohan Vemula (Year 5) and his sister Neha Vemula (Year 11) started a fundraiser to raise money for the mental health charity, Mind (Barnsley and Rotherham) by creating art and posting it on their blog. It all stemmed from having extra time during the pandemic, and of course being in isolation and not connecting with friends and family. It made them aware of the impact that the pandemic had on peoples’ mental health.

Rohan decided to draw a monster everyday to raise money for Mind and it generated a huge response. So far, Rohan and Neha have raised a total of £1180 and hope more people donate to this cause.

Due to the recognition they have received, they were featured in the Barnsley Chronicle.

Dino (pictured above) is one of Rohan’s many remarkable creations – visit https://paintbrainbynehavemula.blogspot.com to see his full gallery of monster marvels.

The whole community of QEGS and WGHS are extremely proud of Rohan and Neha for their outstanding contribution and dedication to raising funds and awareness for mental health charities. Let’s see how much money we can raise in support of their commitment to producing some fantastic artwork!
