Today, Radcliffe Scholars from Years 7 to 12 took part in a series of live video Q&A sessions with members of the House of Lords, gaining valuable insights into the UK’s political system, global affairs, and the workings of Parliament.
The event was split into two sessions. Students in Years 7 and 8 spoke with Lord Hannay of Chiswick, a former British diplomat with extensive experience in international relations. They explored topics such as the role of the House of Lords, diplomacy, and the UK’s global position.
Meanwhile, students in Years 9, 10, and 12 — including those studying politics — engaged in a thought-provoking discussion with Baroness Barker, a Liberal Democrat Peer. Their questions covered current government policies, the potential for House of Lords reform, and the impact of legislation on everyday life.
These sessions offered students a unique opportunity to connect classroom learning with real-world political experience, encouraging critical thinking and civic awareness.
