Year 3 Learn Valuable Lessons in Budgeting with Yorkshire Building Society

22nd January 2025

Year 3 boys recently took on an exciting and educational challenge set by the Yorkshire Building Society, which tested their budgeting and decision-making skills. Tasked with planning a party on a set budget, the boys had to make some tough choices about how to spend their money wisely.

From deciding whether to hire a karaoke machine or a DJ, to calculating how many pizzas or sausage rolls they could afford to serve, the activity brought budgeting concepts to life in a fun and engaging way. Each group worked together to balance their “party plans” while staying within the limits of their budget.

The challenge was a fantastic opportunity for the boys to explore practical financial skills, such as prioritising expenses, making trade-offs, and understanding the value of money. It also encouraged teamwork, critical thinking, and creativity as they devised the best party they could with the resources available.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to the Yorkshire Building Society for delivering this engaging workshop. Their support in teaching our boys about money management has provided invaluable lessons that will serve them well in the future.

Well done to all of Year 3 for their enthusiastic participation in this activity.
