The annual QEGS London dinner, held in The Hodges Room at the RAF Club in Piccadilly, brought together a delightful gathering of Old Savs from various decades and career paths. The evening was a wonderful opportunity for alumni to reconnect, share experiences, and celebrate the enduring spirit of their alma mater.
During the dinner, the Headmaster provided an update on current school life, highlighting the impressive achievements of the current students. A significant topic of discussion was the evolving landscape of the independent sector, including plans for QEGS to merge with WGHS to adopt a diamond model school structure. The Headmaster also encouraged attendees to reflect on the traditions and key elements of a QEGS education that they believe should be preserved for future generations.
The evening was filled with nostalgia and camaraderie, culminating in a resounding chorus of the school song that echoed the fond memories shared among the attendees.
In addition to the dinner, Old Savs Paul Sykes (OS 2002) and Jude McCann (OS 2023) returned to school to support the Pre-Prep careers day, sharing insights from their respective careers. Paul, a former RAF serviceman now flying for Jet2, and Jude, who recently graduated and is now serving in the Police, inspired younger students with their journeys.
Looking ahead, the Class of 1964 will reunite on Saturday to commemorate 60 years since their graduation. They plan to watch the Saturday match before enjoying a lunch and tour of the QEGS site.
Tickets are now on sale for the much-anticipated annual dinner on Friday, December 20. Alumni can secure their places at this festive gathering by visiting the event link.
