Empowering EcoAir: Year 8 Team Shines at National Careers Challenge 2023

6th July 2023

Year 8 team EcoAir took part in The National Careers Challenge 2023 at Birmingham ICC; the UK’s largest careers and enterprise competition for secondary schools aimed at developing employability skills such as teamwork, creativity and presentation. The brief, set in partnership with Airbus, challenged Alfie, Arthur, Josh, Krish, Tanaka and Vlad to look into the future of aviation technology and create a concept for an Airline of the Future which would operate a zero-emission fleet considering the target market and USP of their airline, before developing a plan to reduce the carbon footprint of their proposed new service. They were also asked to consider how they could recruit new employees into their airline in a fully inclusive way and present their ideas to a panel of industry experts. It was a highly enjoyable day where the boys also had the opportunity to take inspiration from guest speaker Rob Law, founder of Trunki and meet with professionals from across industry and culminated in a presentation finale. Hosted by TikTok magician Ben Hanlin the boys can be proud to have taken their ideas to the Birmingham ICC as one of the 20 national finalists.
