Joy for QEGS students on GCSE Results Day

25th August 2022

QEGS is celebrating another year of outstanding GCSE success, with almost 60% of results being the top 9-7 grades. The boys’ results are well deserved, coming on the back of three years of great uncertainty and challenge for all in education, and provide a strong foundation for future study.

There were a number of stand out performances, with Janik, Arsh, Aditya and Tim achieving straight 9 grades and Chris, James, Rahul and Samee achieving at least 9 grade 9s. Indeed, 42 of our wonderful boys got at least one of those coveted Grade 9s. 9 boys achieved an A* in the Higher Project Qualification – an optional extension project which promotes individual intellectual inquiry.

Dr Richard Brookes, Head, commented:

“I would like to congratulate all the boys on their achievements. They, like all our pupils over the last three years, have shown incredible resilience in the face of the challenges posed by COVID and I am confident that the lessons they have learned regarding how to study and how to ensure their personal wellbeing, together with these great results, will serve them well in the future. I am looking forward to seeing the boys return to the Sixth Form in September when they will be able to build on these great performances.

Joined by his brother and father, two former QEGS students, Tim was all smiles this morning as he opened his results envelope.

Congratulations to Cave House Vice Captain and star student Janik, who will join QEGS Sixth Form in September having achieved straight 9 grades!
