QEGS is located on the campus of The Wakefield Grammar School Foundation. The campus offers a welcoming sense of community set in the historic district in Wakefield city centre. Excellent facilities across our campus support our 25 academic departments and a varied and full programme of academic, musical, artistic and sporting activities.
Our specialist science laboratories for chemistry, biology and physics support students as they explore the sciences and develop their practical skills and knowledge.
The music department has dedicated classrooms, music practice rooms and a recording studio for budding artists to play, compose and collaborate. There are over 40 music groups to join and around 20 performances annually to enjoy.
Our excellent sports facilities include a 25m swimming pool, sports hall with fitness suite, games fields, athletics track, sports pavilion, netball and tennis courts, rounders and cricket pitches and all-weather Astroturf. Pupils are nurtured and encouraged to achieve their potential, with the majority enjoying the opportunity to represent the school on the sports field. Numerous representative honours are gained each year at county, regional and national levels.
The Art department has bright, light filled studios for aspiring artists to explore and develop their creative talents.
The Design and Technology Department, dedicated to design and innovation, is well equipped and include CAD suites and Maker Spaces which offer students technologies and equipment to challenge and stretch enquiring minds.
Every day is an adventure in our Forest School where young minds can explore and grow in independence, self confidence and and creative thinking.
Our dedicated Sixth Form Centre provides older pupils with the space and freedom to socialise and pursue independent learning. It features common rooms, study spaces, and a café. These extensive facilities ensure that the final stage of their school journey is enriched, helping them make excellent progress.
