It has been a spectacular week of track and field success across the foundation, with our athletes securing silverware at county level and putting in highly commendable performances on the regional stage.
On Saturday, a strong contingent of foundation students travelled to represent Wakefield at the West Yorkshire Schools Athletics Championships. It proved to be an outstanding showcase of talent, with five of our athletes crowned as West Yorkshire Champions in their respective events:
Josh A – Inter Boys High Jump (clearing a staggering 2.05m!)
Timmy A – Year 7 High Jump
Ned Mc – Year 7 200m
Oliver M – Junior Boys Javelin
Jacob B – Inter Boys Triple Jump
The podium success didn’t stop there. In a brilliant display of squad depth, Rory S secured 2nd place in the Junior Boys Triple Jump, sealing a fantastic 1-2 finish for the school alongside champion Jacob B.
Other notable podium finishes and top-10 placements included:
2nd Place: Charlie W (Year 7 100m), Millie B (Inter Girls Triple Jump)
3rd Place: Elle M (Junior Girls Long Jump), Dulcie (Inter Girls High Jump), Toby (Year 7 800m), Shona (Inter Girls Javelin)

A special mention also goes to Mila (Junior Girls) and Letitia (Year 7), who performed brilliantly representing the district in the Shot Put event, with official final standings still to be confirmed.
Following his incredible 2.05m clearance in the high jump, Josh A has officially been selected to represent the West Yorkshire squad at the English Schools Track & Field Championships in July! Further congratulations go to his brother, Dan A, who is currently named as first reserve for the Senior Boys Long Jump and is highly anticipated to receive his official call-up to the squad this weekend.
The momentum continued yesterday as our Junior Boys (Year 7 & 8) squad went toe-to-toe with the region’s best at the English Schools Athletics Regional B Final. Fielding a young, developing squad packed with Year 7 talent, the boys fought hard to secure a highly commendable 5th-place finish overall.
The meet provided invaluable experience for the future, punctuated by standout individual performances. Timmy A continued his winning streak by taking 1st place in the High Jump, while Matthew delivered a stellar run to claim 1st place in the 1500m.
Congratulations to all athletes who represented the foundation and the district so proudly this week!
