Dr. Richard Brookes has been offered and has accepted the post of High Master at Manchester Grammar School. This appointment will begin in September 2027. Richard will therefore be with us for the next fifteen months and will preside over our first year as the new Queen Elizabeth’s.
Governors will begin the process of recruiting Richard’s successor during the second half of the summer term and autumn term of 2026.
Reflecting on his departure, Richard says: “Leading QEGS, and serving as Executive Head of the Foundation, has been the greatest privilege of my professional life. I am incredibly proud of what our staff and students have achieved, particularly the innovation and enthusiasm shown during our transition to Queen Elizabeth’s School. I look forward to working with Governors, Staff, Students and the whole Queen Elizabeth’s community to make our first year a fantastic one and, in time, with my successor to ensure a seamless transition. The Foundation has also been a wonderful home to our whole family – we will miss it tremendously.”
On behalf of the Board of Governors I would like to congratulate Richard on his appointment to the post of High Master at MGS. There will be ample opportunity next year to thank Richard for his contribution to our Foundation.
