Slithering through Science Week: Junior Pupils Get Hands-On with a range of Wildlife

12th March 2026

Science Week reached a thrilling peak this week as our Junior pupils ventured out of the classroom and into the wild, right here in school! To bring their studies on habitats and biological adaptations to life, pupils were treated to a visit from a variety of extraordinary animals.

The atmosphere was a mix of awe and bravery as pupils had the opportunity to handle everything from snakes and turtles to a surprisingly heavy tarantula. For those preferring something a little furrier, a mischievous guinea pig was also on hand to steal the show.

This immersive experience allowed pupils to consolidate their scientific knowledge, observing first-hand how different species have evolved to survive in their natural environments. It was a day of unforgettable ‘lightbulb moments’ that has sparked even more curiosity across the year groups.
