A perfect opportunity to ask about their experiences and find out what helped them decide our schools were the perfect choice for them! There’s lots going on and a glimpse is below. Things to do at Open Morning

Speak to current pupils

Who better to tell you all about school life than a current pupil ? Chat to your tour guide and pupils throughout our departments, classes and school to hear about their experience and find out what helped them decide our schools were the perfect choice for them.

9:00 – 1:00

Check out our school

Take a tour around our school and see if you can picture yourself here as a pupil. Current pupils and staff will be on hand to answer any questions you may have about your possible move.  You’ll be able to visit all of our departments where teachers will be running activities for you to join in with as you wish. Soak up our art displays and live music as pupils perform as you tour – be sure to take a break and sample some of our delicious and nutritious catering.

We were delighted to be recognised in The Times, Parent Power Schools Guide 2023 as one of the north’s top independent schools.

9:00 – 12:30

Learn how we support our pupils

We value smiles as much as success and have a fantastic support system in place for pupils seeking a range of services. This includes Wellbeing, Personal, Social, Health and Careers experts.  In our Pre-Prep this includes Wellbeing, Philosophical Thinking and our innovative Zones of Regulation practice.

Staff from our Pastoral Care and Learning Support Teams will be on hand to answer questions about how we help pupils personally during their school years with us and to discuss the provisions we have in place to care for and nurture our pupils.

9:00 – 1:00

Discover our extra-curricular activities: EDGE Programme

The extra-curricular programmes we offer will no doubt have a big impact on your experience as a pupil. With over 20 clubs and activities in Pre-Prep and over 115 clubs and activities in Seniors,  there is so much to be involved in and so many new friends to be made. Talk with our fantastic teams about what is on offer and check out our programmes to help your child decide which they’d like to do.

9:00 – 1:00

Learn about personal development opportunities

At the heart of everything we do is happily empower and support all our pupils as they contemplate life shaping decisions for the years ahead.  We believe there is no substitute for readily available current advice and sound structured guidance.  In Pre-Prep, our Little Leaders programme offers just that for children in all year groups. As pupils grow older, we offer bespoke one to one assistance and personal development opportunities to help each pupil make the right decision for the next stage of their life.

Discover more about personal development on your visit.

9:00 – 1:00

Find out about our House experience

All our pupils belong to a House.  We think this helps everyone to quickly belong, explore and reach their full potential.   New pupils are welcomed as a member of a House and enjoy many socials, adventures and competitions with others in their House ‘family’.  Life here and being part of a House is one side of the pupil experience here and goes hand in hand with academic and extra-curricular life.

9:00 – 1:00

Take part in activities throughout school

All of our departments are open and are looking forward to your visit.  Stop by each and take part in the fun activities they have in store for you.

Parents and carers

We know there is lots of information to take in at an Open Morning, and we understand you’ll have lots of questions about how best to support and develop your child.  Please feel free to have a chat with any member of staff between 9:00 – 1:00. If there is anything you don’t get answered on the day, you are welcome to contact our friendly admissions team by phone (01924 372490) or email snewton@wgsf.net and they will be happy to help.
