Through entrance assessment, we are hoping to predict future potential rather than to test present knowledge.
At 12+ and 13+ (entry into Years 8 or 9), candidates are assessed on three papers: English, Mathematics and a Modern Foreign Language (usually French, but occasionally Spanish or German).
The offer of a place at QEGS is based upon performance in the Entrance Examinations, an interview with a member of the Senior Management Team and the references provided by the candidate's current school.
Practice papers are available from the Admissions Secretary upon request.
All supplementary examination days are by arrangement with the Admissions Secretary. A candidate will spend a full day at QEGS. He will be buddied up with a boy from his year group for breaks and lunch time. This will very much help him to experience QEGS life and get a feel for the school.
