Students, parents, and staff in our schools were celebrating today following achievements on A Level Results Day 2024.
Over two-thirds of the students in our Sixth Forms, part of the Wakefield Grammar School Foundation, achieved A*-B grades at A Level.
Once again we are delighted to see the vast majority of our students head off to study at their first choice university, attaining places of the most prestigious courses. Their courses and destinations include Medicine, Law, Veterinary Medicine, Dentistry, Architecture, English Literature, Mathematics, Journalism, Geography, Engineering, History, Modern Languages, Economics, Physics, Rural Enterprise & Land Management, Business Management, Classics, Psychology and Science at Cambridge, King’s College London, Bristol, Newcastle, Birmingham, Liverpool, Nottingham, Loughborough, Edinburgh, Warwick, York and Exeter.
We also have students with career end goals such as Physiotherapy, early-childhood education, professional policing and nursing and students beginning apprenticeships in the Financial, Retail and Engineering sectors and with companies like A-Eon, Bevan Brittan (800 applicants and only 1 place!), Morrisons and Nestle, following rigorous and highly competitive selection processes.
While we subscribe to the view that academic achievement is only one aspect of life in our Sixth Forms, we are incredibly proud of our students and the way their results consistently compete with the very best in Yorkshire. Our accomplished Year 13 pupils include:
