At Queen Elizabeth’s School, Wakefield, music isn’t just a subject. Music is an integral, vibrant part of daily life!
We passionately encourage musical talent from our youngest learners in FS1 all the way through to our Year 13 pupils, ensuring an abundance of opportunities for everyone. Every musical journey here is unique, fostering organic and truly individual growth.
Our school pulses with diverse musical opportunities, ranging from dynamic Jazz, Rock, Funk, and Blues ensembles to refined Classical ensembles.
We host an extensive series of annual events for pupils to showcase their musical talents, including impressive concerts, where our many ensembles and musicians showcase the hard work and dedication to their musical craft. These events are not confined to our School halls; we also hold magnificent concerts at Wakefield Cathedral and frequently participate in seasonal events across West Yorkshire.
With twenty different musical groups catering to various ranges and abilities, every pupil has the chance to take part in various ensembles and bands.
To further ignite and refine talent, we offer professional, private tuition on a wide array of instruments:
Performances at Queen Elizabeth’s are more than just a chance to play; it is an opportunity to enable pupils to express themselves clearly and confidently, while building lasting friendships through shared musical experiences. Our dedicated musicians are also actively involved in directing or conducting performances throughout the academic year, providing invaluable opportunities to develop their leadership and musical skills.
With approximately fifteen musical events filling our school calendar each year, and over 400 weekly lessons taught by our professional visiting instrumental musicians in individual music classrooms, Queen Elizabeth’s truly provides a comprehensive and inspiring musical education.
