The Wakefield Grammar School Foundation is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all those who work for and on behalf of the school to share this commitment.

At the Wakefield Grammar School Foundation, we recognise the importance of children receiving the right help at the right time to address risks and to prevent issues from escalating; acting on and referring the early signs of need, risk, abuse and mental health problems; keeping clear records; listening to the children’s views; reassessing concerns when situations do not improve, sharing information quickly and challenging inaction, whilst recognising that children may not feel ready or know how to tell someone that they are being abused.

All members of our school community assist by maintaining the security of our school site and by reporting anything they feel threatens the safety or wellbeing of themselves or others. Should pupils or parents have any concerns in this respect, they should contact the child’s Form Tutor or any other member of staff who will alert our Designated Safeguarding Leads (listed below).

Behaviour / Code of Conduct

Everyone has the right to feel comfortable, secure and accepted without being subjected to behaviour that makes them feel upset, intimidated or uncomfortable at Wakefield Grammar School Foundation.

Following and upholding the code of conduct is an expectation for us all.  Bullying or extreme views/behaviour of any kind will not be tolerated and must be reported to school to address.

Our policies, including Behaviour Management, can be found on our policies page here.
